Day 23: A letter to someone
“Well, that’s an interesting question!” I smirked.
You laughed.
We looked at each other, pondering if we want to stay single.
It was 5 hours into our date at that point, and we both were having so much fun. A five-hour date must mean something. We realized that we agree on a lot of things and share many values. We also have a matching sense of humor. I loved it.
You dropped your brownie, and I told you I started watching Marvel movies for you. Do you remember what you said?
“Look, you’re watching Marvel movies for me, that goes beyond anything and everything. Like, you win at this point.”
We had such a great time together.
One month after, and the road so far… has been MARVEL-ous.
Your care for me amazes me the most. You can find a fine balance between your life interests and our relationship. You invest into our friendship as well as into the romance between us, and you easily make it seem like we can build a strong romantic relationship and have successful careers on the side. I really like this sense of stability and a comfort of another human being unconditionally being there for me.
I feel how our friendship unfolds into passionate romance, filled with trust and care for each other. I say “friendship” because it is my goal to have a friend in my partner, and to have my partner as my friend. It seems so easy to have both a friendship and an on-going romance with you. They say that true love is hard to come by, but you have to work at it constantly for it to be strong and beautiful. We already have a beautiful relationship and I want to keep developing it more.
When I look at you, I see a man so madly in love that he proposed to me within days of getting to know me. I still think this is madness! But it’s this madness that attracts me to you. Your dedication, your loyalty, and your desire to make me happy are the things that make you so darn attractive. Your honesty and your sincerity capture me every time we have a moment together. When you’re relaxed around me, and when you put your walls down a little bit, you show me your confidence in me, and in our ability to make “us” work. You’re not afraid of the task, and I admire that a lot.
When I say I love you, I mean that I love your soul, I love your energy, I love your character, I love your aura, I love your wit, I love your smile, I love your jokes. I find your Marvel dedication fascinating; your eyes spark with joy when you talk about it and I absolutely love seeing you talk about something you enjoy so much. It’s what fuels your soul and I find that so attractive.
I can easily see us being together long-term. My future with you looks bright and supportive and loving, built on long-lasting friendship and deep understanding and respect of each other. I can easily imagine sharing a place with you, where we function as a couple, but also have the freedom to grow as individuals and do what sets our souls on fire. I can imagine working on a big project during the day and then coming home to spend the evenings with you. It’s a wonderful picture and I want to make it happen.
My mom says that getting married is for life. I agree. She meant it in a scary way, but I am not scared to share my life with you. Quite the opposite — I can’t wait to share my life with you. Before I met you, it was easy for me to imagine living on my own and being a successful whoever I was gonna become. Now I cannot imagine living on my own as it seems bleak and sad and lonely without you in my life.
You are a big part of my life. I am so happy I could find a friend in you, and I am so delighted and surprised to find a dedicated lover in you as well. I guess I discovered love where I least expected it, but it is the most beautiful and selfless love I have ever experienced. And I know I deserve it.
Thank you so much for being in my life.
I love you.
