A Theory on Human Souls
Once upon a time in a flash of a moment a form of existence joined this world. It was a Thought. Thought appeared in an enormous family of other Thoughts — wise, smart and very powerful beings that were as old as the Universe. There were no genders among them, but you could distinguish good and bad Thoughts, silly and serious, funny and hurtful, wise and not so wise, young and old and so many more. You could say that they almost completed one another.
Thoughts shared their lives with other forms of existence called Souls, who were also as old. Throughout their lives, Souls worked on reaching enlightenment, even though this required them to go through a near-death experience. The process of enlightenment began as a Soul entered the world of ugly, filthy, earthly, mortal creatures. Here, a Soul joined with a freshly produced container and made it come alive; this merger formed a new form of existence called a “Human”. Once a Human began living on Earth, the Soul’s memory of its purpose erased until the container perished some 100 years later. Because of this memory loss, a Soul inside of a Human did not know why it is stuck in this container and thus could not work towards enlighten. The Soul’s existence, therefore, depended on Thoughts, whose purpose was to make sure that the Human does not harm the Soul within. Thoughts could travel in and out of the containers and help them lead a productive life — this would nurture the Soul and help it develop. If Thoughts did a good job, then the Soul would be free once the container perished and thus could move on to further enlightenment.
Every Thought had a dream of nurturing a super-Soul — a divine form of existence with balanced structure and love for all. Yet not every Thought shared in this dream. There were reckless, irresponsible, evil Thoughts, who’s goal was to postpone the Soul’s comeback from the Human world. Good and evil Thoughts fought over the dominance over the Human’s actions. If a Bad Thought won, the Human container performed a profane, unproductive act, trashing itself and the Soul within. If Bad Thoughts frequently controlled the Human, the Soul within would rot and its chances to reach enlightenment would diminish. Upon the Human’s perish, the Soul inside would still be able to come back to Earth again and try to reach enlightenment, but in a less appealing form than of a Human. If during the next cycle of enlightenment Good Thoughts prevailed, then the Soul could move up to a higher form of existence in the next cycle. If not, then it would be lost to nothingness forever.
The process of enlightenment sounds exhausting and painful, but Souls never gave up trying to achieve the Divine. Their collaboration with Thoughts always propelled them to reach their goal. It is not known yet whether a single Soul achieved this goal, and it should not be known to Humans anyways. In the world of Thoughts and Souls, a Human is just a mere passing stage, a moment of inhale of a massive beast when it comes out of water to grasp for air. As soon as it hits dives in, Humans perish from the face of this world, leaving Souls to travel further in search for higher enlightenment, and not even realizing how important their role was to the development of the Universe.
